The Automotive Technology program trains students to diagnose and repair today's high tech automotive systems using the latest diagnostic procedures. Student achieve a thorough understanding of all automotive systems with special emphasis being placed on the vehicles electrical and computer systems.


Picture of Building Construction

The Building Construction Technology program provides the student with the fundamentals of carpentry, residential electrical wiring, residential plumbing, and block and brick laying. Instruction methods include classroom lecture, audiovisual presentation, and extensive live work projects on actual construction projects.

The Business Systems Technology program offers training in several areas. Because every successful office worker needs a strong background in basic office skills, these are required of all students:

The Collision Repair Technician program is designed to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the materials, methods, and refinishing techniques used in the repair and restoration of a damaged automobile body. Through class study, audiovisual presentations, and actual "hands-on" performance tasks the student will learn the procedures necessary for the proper repair and refinishing of  metal, fiberglass, and plastic components used in both unibody and conventional automobile construction.

Picture of Computer Information Technology

The Computer Information Technology program will enable a student to become familiar with all aspects of personal computers and networking; how they work, how they process data, and how to apply its functions to solutions of personal, business, and industrial problems.  Training involves a combination of skill assignments and projects designed to provide students with actual job training experience.  Software application programs in Microsoft Office ™ will include word processing, spreadsheets, database management, desktop publishing, and multimedia presentations.

The classroom and practical learning experiences are concerned with a variety of beauty treatments which may include the care and beautification of the hair, complexion, and hands. The basic instruction includes training in giving shampoos, rinses, and scalp treatment; hair styling, setting, cutting, tinting, bleaching, permanent waving; facials, manicures, and hand and arm messages.  The entire program is geared toward preparing students to receives a diploma from the center and pass the Tennessee Board of Cosmetology Licensing Examination.

The Electronics program provides the student with the basic theories, principles, experiments, practice, and real work experience dealing with the operation and repair of most types of electronic equipment. After completing the basics the student will proceed to Industrial Electronics.

This program is designed for High School Students grades 11 & 12.  It includes health education and health sciences.

The Industrial Maintenance program includes classroom and shop learning experience as well as theory and application in industrial electronics, pneumatics and hydraulics, robotics, welding, air conditioning/ refrigeration, machine tool technology, blueprint reading, and related mathematics. Students who complete the program are prepared to enter employment as industrial maintenance technicians with the skills necessary to maintain most modern manufacturing equipment.

Picture of Machine Tool Technology

The Machine Tool program is designed to give students experience on a variety of machine tools similar to those with which they will work after graduation. Instruction is given in related mathematics and blueprint reading, precision measuring and basic metallurgy, such as the properties of metal, their workable characteristics, heat treatment of metals, and the relative hardness of metals. The skills of operating drill presses, milling machines, etc. is stressed. Computer  aided manufacturing and CNC machining are vital parts of the training.

Picture of Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician Program will prepare you to work as a Pharmacy Technician in wholesale or retail pharmacies, home health care, long term care facilities, or in the hospital setting. This program is designed to provide learning experiences and basic competencies that graduates will need for employment.  Students will learn to become skilled in medications, prescription preparation, reconstitution and IV preparation. Clinical training is provided in various work environments.  Upon completion of training, students will be prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examinations (PTCE).

Picture of Practical Nursing

The Practical Nursing program is designed to provide training in the competencies required of a Licensed Practical Nurse.  All instructional units must be successfully completed for progression in the course.  Careful consideration in the development and upgrading of this program is given to the standards set for by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing.


This program is designed to meet the needs of educational programs for members of the nursing team employed in hospital, nursing homes, home health care, etc.

Technology Foundations programs consists of a number of instructional activities in the fundamental skills a person is normally thought to need to function productively in society. Each full-time student enrolling in a program at the TTCL will undergo an assessment program, and if found to be deficient in reading, writing, mathematics, or study skills, will attend the Technology Foundations program as part of their instructional day.
