GED Information

The TTCL gives the GED test monthly.  The GED test is usually administered over a two day period. The TTCL provides the test at two locations:  TTCL and Upper Cumberland Career Center in Cookeville. 

Any individual wishing to take the GED must first take the Official Practice Test that is administered by the Basic Adult Education programs statewide which are located in ever county in TN.

You must register prior to the GED testing date. Registration applications are taken Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the TTCL or print the GED Registration Form and mail the the TTCL.   The cost is $55.00 cash or money order for a full test or $11.00 a test for retest (no checks or credit cards accepted) that must be paid prior to the testing date.  A test date will not be scheduled until the registration application and test fee is received. The GED test fee is non-refundable.

*  Must have at least 10 candidates and receive payment at least two (2) weeks prior to test.

NOTE:  It takes approximately four to five hours each day or night to test.  Candidates are not permitted to bring purses, tote bags, papers, cell phones, portable music players, hand held games, food items, and textbooks (including dictionaries).  Do not bring small children.  There is not a place for them to wait.

YOU MUST BRING THE FOLLOWING WITH YOU ON THE TEST DATE:
  1.  Receipt for the GED fee.
  2.  Current TN Driver's License or TN photo ID.
  3.  Notarized form-proof that you have taken the Official Practice Test.
  4.  Age waiver if you are 17, 18, or 19 years of age.

RETEST: Candidates must wait at least 30 days to re-take any part of the GED test.  Candidates may not test more than three (3) times per test in one year.  You  may take as few as one test or the complete battery of five test in order to earn a passing score.
